The Habit of Art Poster

The Habit of Art

Jessine Hein adds her skilful painterly marks to 'The Habit of Art's' theatre poster.

Working with Sam Charrington Design, Jessine was tasked with created a watercolour vignette representing a British landscape with subtle hints of Venice and Oxford. English playwright Alan Bennett wrote the play which is centred on a fictional meeting between W. H. Auden and Benjamin Britten while Britten is composing the opera 'Death in Venice', so Jessine's work was to suggest friendship and nostalgic yearning and with a feeling of connection between the painting and the photographs of the characters. The final poster art is used for national marketing and press for the theatre production’s national tour.
