From watercolors, inks and oils through to digital painting in Photoshop, whatever medium Berlin illustrator Jessine Hein works in she expertly produces distinctive fashion and beauty images for her clients.
Jessine’s parents owned an illustration agency, and watching her father paint while being surrounded by other illustrators gave her a head start understanding the profession.
Leading a life full of breath-taking creativity and imagination, she looks for the unique things in the world around her. Jessine is inspired by everything from ghosts to insects, and has huge admiration for the way artists like Egon Schiele use negative space.
Approach
Jessine loves it when her clients feed her imagination, and her first step is to focus on the brief. “Using empathy and paying close attention to the words chosen by my client help the image, with all its colors and composition, to form in my mind. It’s almost like remembering a dream, only that the visuals get stronger the more I think about them, not more blurry,” she explains.Styles
Classic media like watercolors and oils have a timeless elegance for Jessine, but she’s equally adept working in software and an array of other media. There is a broad range of styles in Jessine’s portfolio, and she enjoys using new techniques and developing new looks for her clients.Languages
