Decorative, layered, artworks by New Zealand illustrator Nadia Flower are woven together with natural elements and soft curves for a crafted look and feel that works well in black and white or with vibrant colour. Working in fashion and beauty, publishing and advertising, her passion is always to help clients visualise their message in an original way.
With a background in graphic design and fashion, Nadia is always scribbling, pulling things from the world around her into her chaotic dreamscape of art. She loves the work of Gustav Klimt; and is inspired by flora and fauna. Nadia has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts majoring in Graphic Design from the Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland.
Approach
Working with vector graphics on her Mac, or drawing with ink and markers, Nadia has an instinctive approach, tempered by a strong sense of design. In some cases she works in black and white, interconnecting silhouetted forms using curving vines and tendrils. In others she focuses on intricate, geometric patterns.Style
Nadia’s style is graphic and decorative. While an overall composition will have a bold contrast between positive and negative space, what defines her style is the inclusion of so many tiny little details. You can find new things in her illustrations each time you look at them.
