Scratchy Hen Design is the Manchester-based studio run by illustrator and graphic designer Jennifer Parkington, creating work in a bold, unique graphical style that gets her client’s message across in impactful and unforgettable ways.
Alongside her boundless creativity, Jenny brings vast experience to every project she tackles. Her clients appreciate the way she quickly grasps a brief, turning concepts into original visual expressions that are both intelligent and relatable.
Hand-drawn forms and lettering make Scratchy Hen artwork immediate and approachable. She has an innate ability to think visually and alongside advertising, branding and editorial illustration, she offers a live sketchnotes service, making her clients’ presentations lively and memorable both in person and within online video calls.
Jenny’s inspiration comes from mid-century design, vintage illustration and design, the Bauhaus school, and creatives including Paul Rand, Dick Bruna, Tove Janson, Saul Bass and Ray Eames. She has a degree in Conceptual Graphic Design from Salford University.

It all begins with a concept – or several of them – which is visualised via Jenny’s Apple Pencil, iMac, iPad and Adobe Creative Suite. She is equally adept drawing and creating with vector graphics.Style
