From editorial to advertising campaigns and from character concepts to book publishing, a rainbow of colours and emotions energises the work of Brazilian illustrator Lunecornio. One of the rising stars on the creative scene in South America, he not only creates beautiful imagery for his clients, but he also explores LGBTQ+ diversity through his work.
Character- and concept-led, there is a comic/graphic novel feel to many of Lunecornio’s creations which he puts down to his early manga and comic book influences. He’s an artist who constantly draws, developing his technique and feeding his soul. Clients enjoy his collaborative approach and the way he sees the process as one of co-creation – solving through art what his clients wish to communicate.
Bolstering his illustration career, Lunecornio – aka Lune Carvalho – has a background in graphic design and art direction and is well versed in character creation, storyboarding, motion design and branding. He’s inspired by a wide variety of things – Art Nouveau, emo grunge and unicorns to name just a few.
Approach
Lunecornio works traditionally with watercolours and inks as well as digitally, always pulling physical attributes into his works for tactility and those perfect little imperfections that make a piece unique.Style
Warm, pastel colours and characters with real feeling set Lunecornio’s work apart from the rest. While his line work is light, there is often a manga-esque sense of freedom to his creations.Languages
