Powerful line work sits side-by-side with a strong stance on social issues in the work of London creative Cat Sims, making her an artist to watch on today’s illustration scene.

Cat creates visual narratives in her work, grounded in her love of comic art. Feminism, social equality and climate change are some of the key themes she explores in her work. Film, science fiction and architecture are just some of Cat’s influences, and she studied Graphic Design at UAL London College of Communication before launching her illustration career.

Approach

Cat likes to mix things up and looks for different ways to combine handmade and digital elements in her work. Usually, rough sketches are scanned in and progressed in Photoshop, layering her work to bring in texture, light and colour.

Style

Narrative is always a strong element in her imagery, which is based on line work, lots of clever detail, and texture. The latter is often derived from printing techniques such as halftones.
