Projected!

Kathryn Rathke sees her portrait of architect Oscar Niemeyer projected eight stories high in a Brazilian neighbourhood.

To celebrate the birthday of architect Oscar Niemeyer, a group in Brazil approached Kathryn to ask permission to use her portrait that she'd completed for The Economist a few years back. Projected on the side of a building that he designed, Kathryn was delighted to be able to contribute to their worthy celebration, and even re-drew it as a vector image so that it would have nice crisp lines when projected at eight stories. Kathryn adds, "This is the largest use of my artwork to date, and such a far-flung location, so fun!"
