Chinese children’s illustrator Steve Dorado has a true talent when it comes to creating lively, colourful imagery populated by fun little characters that kids engage with. From cheerful crocodiles to cowboy cats and on to naughty racoons, there’s always a little humour and cheekiness to keep young readers smiling.
With seven years’ experience working in an illustration studio, Steve understands what clients need and also what subjects entertain young children. Based in the city of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, he’s a dedicated artist and clients like the range of ideas he comes up with during a project. His creative inspiration comes from European village architecture, ancient Chinese paintings and Japanese manga.

Steve likes to vary the media he uses depending on the story he’s illustrating. He works digitally, but also uses pencils, watercolours and acrylics. Sometimes he experiments with collage.Styles
