Kleverson Mariano is an illustrator, cartoonist and visual artist based in São Paulo whose doodling prowess spans everything from ebook illustrations through to walls filled with freehand murals. From characters to patterns and from portraits to cartoon chaos, the journey begins at the tip of Kleverson’s pen.
Fun, vibrant and expressive are words you can easily associate with Kleverson’s portfolio. He loves drawing people and their stories, filling negative space with quickly conceived objects and ideas – and he particularly loves drawing dogs in all shapes and sizes.
Having studied at the University of Fine Arts in São Paulo, Kleverson is appreciated by clients for his knowledge and experience as well as his commitment to every project he tackles. He’s a problem solver whose influences include a wide variety of great artists including Quentin Blake, Hergé, Akira Toriyama, Keith Haring and many more.
Approach
As Kleverson professes, there’s no big secret to his approach. He focuses on the brief, sketches, then develops a unique composition. His images are executed either digitally (Adobe Photoshop and/or Fresco) or traditionally (pens, acrylics, paper, canvas, walls…) depending on the requirements.Style
Expressive and whimsical, Kleverson’s linework evokes the fun and quirkiness of modern cartoons but he cleverly adapts it to a wide range of applications. His colour palettes are usually reduced to guarantee impact, and he puts a strong emphasis on character and feeling.Languages
