Scribbles is a signature style developed by the New Zealand illustrator Nadia Flower. Random, instinctive and playful, it has a contemporary look and feel with the hand of the artist always present. Scribbles is ideal for product customization, and Nadia has drawn on brands from Prada through to Nike as part of retail promotions.
With experience working as a graphic designer, Nadia is flexible and amenable, and understands the processes involved in a successful campaign. Graffiti, fashion, art and music all feed into Nadia’s creative approach, with key influences including the street artist Future, as well as Yayoi Kusama and Yoshitomo Nara.
She studied Art and Design at the Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland, New Zealand.
Approach
Nadia is constantly scribbling in her sketchbooks, using a variety of different markers and papers to create thousands of reference drawings for her Scribbles style – ideas waiting to come to life. Each is scanned in, and she then selects, assembles and recolors these marks in Photoshop to use in Scribbles artwork. When customizing, she draws directly on the products.Style
Scribbles is a style that mixes pattern-based chaos with text, characters, random marks and a unique sense of humor. Nadia sees it as the place where her love of art and fashion collide, and this style has a strong, individual identity.
