The foundation who actively pushes for policy change and campaigns against single-use plastics, chose to work with Carles based on his previous works for activism-led projects.
Incorporating numerous elements in the piece - showing the problems we face, and the work that Save the Med are undertaking, Carles began with a mind map which gradually grew into an epic poster, and is now used as an educational banner to aid storytelling.
Proving to be both a challenging and enriching project, Carles adds, “Shortlisted in the World Illustration Awards, it is a very special project for me. I grew up in Mallorca and spent most of my summers swimming in its waters, diving from the rocks, and exploring caves and coves. In my lifetime I have seen the destruction that greedy industries perpetuate, as well as the effects of climate change.”
