Marieke's part in the project involved creating intricate backgrounds, monsters, and ghosts, capturing a playful yet spooky atmosphere.
The long, eerie landscapes, which form the backdrop for the train ride, were a particular challenge, "I had to illustrate these really long landscapes for the train ride. As I work on paper it was a huge challenge. I had to illustrate one of the landscapes in three parts because it did not fit on my drawing board. Afterwards I had to stick it together in Photoshop. But the result is great! " She says.
