The Mapping Brooklyn exhibition opens today and features a super-sized artwork by Jennifer Maravillas.
71 Square Miles is a piece Jennifer has been working on for three years and exists as a 10 x 10 ft map of Brooklyn. The artwork is made up of litter collected by Jennifer as she walked throughout the borough, and glued down exactly where it was found on the growing map - with each bit of trash representing the block from which it came. The show starts this evening at 7-9 pm at BRIC Media Arts House, 647 Fulton St, Brooklyn NY 11217. Check out the BRIC website for more details on the exhibition and follow Jennifer's journey in making the map here.
