Yarra Tram Shelters

Annie Davidson produces tram shelter art visualising the charm of Melbourne's Botanic Gardens.

Yarra Trams' Transporting Arts program gives artists an incredible opportunity to have their art on display in prime city locations, the art can be enjoyed by a diverse and widespread audience as people travel by tram around the city. Annie says, "As a Melburnian I’ve spent so many hours enjoying and exploring the Botanic Gardens over the years, so when I was asked to create an artwork that captures pockets of this magnificent place I was thrilled and it felt like a very natural fit.

She continues, "This design features several iconic parts of the gardens including the arid (cactus) garden, central & oak lawns, children’s garden, lakes, fern gully and views of government house and the city skyline, as well as some uniquely Australian flora and fauna. The gardens are a place to gather together and are accessible to everyone so that is also depicted across this design which zooms in and out and changes perspective along the way to feel like a journey."
