Plumelet

A children's book written and illustrated by Victoria Fomina wins awards!

Victoria's project is a fairy tale for children, at present unpublished, it has been recognised in Russia by winning the International Competition of Book Images 2021, and has one of its illustrations a winner of American Illustration 40 Awards, 2021.

Plumelet is about the adventures of a little capricious princess, who meets good and bad fairy-tale characters who help her to mend her ways. Victoria explains, "I have always dreamed of a "book with pictures and conversations", which would contain the most interesting, beautiful and exciting things being at the same time a caution tale. To make my dream come true, I have written a fairy tale and drew pictures for it. In my story there is a king and a queen, a princess, a witch, a royal palace, an ominous labyrinth, a unicorn as well as misdeeds and awareness of mistakes. The drawings are made in a realistic manner, but their composition combines the principles of surrealism, avant-garde industrial design, board games and classic book illustration."
