The Music Continues

Laura Greenan creates a spread for Waitrose Weekend Magazine to illustrate a piece on the triumph of music in Lockdown.

The feature reported on how local orchestras and musicians had been coping during lockdown, and the kind of things they had been doing to reconnect with people and continue to play music.

Using a positive and vibrant feel, Laura was free to play around with the space available across the double page layout, she adds, "The design is based on a quote in the article; “It moves us profoundly to see music coming out of the cracks like that.” The idea is that the music appears to be coming out of a crack in the magazine itself. This combined with the mention of drums, cymbals, cannons, and coming back with a bang is what inspired me to create the design."
