Claire Rollet is well known for her outstanding architectural illustrations, taking well known landmarks and illustrating them in a fresh and modern fashion.
This latest series of map illustrations sees her creating London maps with a focus on architecture and history in a fun way, she tells is a bit more about the project,
"The illustration is a map of Balham, part of my London postcode maps (I’m planning to cover the whole city eventually). The focus is on the architectural history of areas.
I love doing the thorough research through the streets looking for architecture that would catch my eye and then digging out the history of the buildings. From grand theaters to terraced houses, I find each architecture styles all equally fascinating since they are the witness of history. Through wars and economic changes architecture adapts to the times and so we find wonders on our streets.
London is particularly eclectic, so I really love producing these maps and I can’t wait to have the whole city done!"
