Gail Armstrong creates a paper-sculpture illustration for Texas Co-op Power Magazine.

Gail's job was to illustrate the article 'Making the Case for Happy Endings' which comments on the current prevalence of zombie and vampire books and lack of positive, upbeat novels for mid-to-late teen readers. The resulting image features a teenage girl relaxing and reading in comfort, Gail says " I avoided the cliché of positive imagery flying out of the book and opted instead for the book overlapping the positive view seen through the arched window. I used curves and rounded shapes throughout the scene which, coupled with the warm palette, helps create the positive, comfortable atmosphere of the image."
