Jamie Coe

Comic art has always been part of Jamie’s creative DNA, with key influences including Charles Burns, Daniel Clowes and Jamie Hewlett. He developed his drawing skills as a teenager, honing them further during his Illustration degree at Central Saint Martins before publishing his first graphic novel through Nobrow in 2014. As well as the versatility of his drawing style, clients love the way Jamie puts everything into his work, offering ideas and solutions and communicating well throughout every project. He’s also a talented storyboard artist.

Approach

For Jamie, images begin as thumbnails, knowing that if a composition works at a small scale it will be effective at any size. He typically uses pencils and inks to begin his drawings, colouring and editing them digitally. His palette is bold and dramatic, using warm and cold colour combinations to build atmosphere.

Style

Colourful, atmospheric and expressive, Jamie will adapt the style of his work to fit his brief. Character illustration is a specialty, bringing emotion to the narrative through facial expressions, posture and composition.
