Engagingly intricate, yet with a light touch to it, Ella Tjader’s artwork is gorgeous and decorative, making it ideal for a whole range of lifestyle and fashion-based applications. Intertwining organic and floral elements draw the viewer in, ensuring her client’s message hits the mark.
Born in Lithuania, Ella is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and is influenced by vintage Scandinavian illustration, nature and the environment. She studied at the Vilnius School of Economics, but later did a graphic design course via the online college Sessions.edu. That’s how she discovered Adobe Illustrator, and armed with a Wacom tablet she began building up her portfolio, winning clients in publishing, fashion, retail and more.
Approach
After reading a brief, Ella generates her concept and slowly brings together her composition, colours and overall style. She’ll go through her thoughts with the client, take on board the feedback and begin drawing using Illustrator. Sometimes, she’ll work on a sketch first, scan it and trace it using the vector application.
Style
Feminine, elegant, modern, detailed, intricate and light, Ella’s style is usually based around line work, though sometimes she’ll use brushes in Photoshop to drop in some vibrant colours. In addition to illustrations, she creates surface designs – seamless patterns and prints that continue the organic themes in her work.Client list
Ella’s clients include Henkel, Victoria’s Secret, Target, Nivea, Mattel, La Perla, Hugo Boss, BBH London, Ogilvy London, Nylon and more.
