Welcome to the magical universe of Yogi Fahmi Riandito. Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, Yogi creates fantastical imagery full of nuance and atmosphere – capturing the essence of a project via its characters and landscapes, honing the mood through his application of colour, light and shadow.

After attending a school of fine art, Yogi joined the Beranda Seni studio to continue his training across a range of natural media. He has freelanced since his final year of college, working for publishers and as a concept artist and visual designer for gaming clients. Clients love Yogi’s appreciation of the finer details of their projects and his inspiring use of colour. Indeed, the challenge of capturing natural colours is what motivates Yogi – the aurora of twilight and the way light interacts with land, sea and sky.

Approach

An experienced watercolour, gouache and acrylic painter, today Yogi applies the same techniques using digital media. Thriving on colour, he uses palettes not just to catch the eye but to drive compositions, experimenting, breaking the rules and enjoying himself while doing so.

Styles

Using colour and shading, Yogi creates a ‘lineless’ style, which gives his illustrations a light, dreamlike quality. However, he is able to pull his style towards a more realistic and/or comic book look and feel depending on his client’s needs.
