Based in the Bronx, Esther Stimphat is one of the rising stars of New York illustration, bringing the color and vivacity of her Haitian background to the fore in artworks that are powerful, realistic and impactful. Esther’s art is larger than life – literally! – as she renders inspiring indoor and outdoor murals for her clients.
Inspired by great poster artists like Drew Struzan and George Stavrinos, as well as comic book heroes such as John Romita Jr, Esther paints both physically and digitally. Her clients love this flexibility, and her talent for bringing their ideas to life through her own creative vision.
Esther’s portfolio ranges from murals through to book, online and advertising illustration, as well as black and white graphic novel line work. She has an Associate of Applied Science degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. As well as being an illustrator Esther works as a painting instructor.
Approach
Working with acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pen and ink as well as Adobe Creative Suite applications, Esther works from background to foreground to build up layers of realism, striving for dynamism and movement in her compositions and characters.Style
