Based on the Gulf Coast of Florida, Ron Borresen is an artist and illustrator whose lively, demonstrative characters bring a bright and positive vibe to some of North America’s biggest names in technology, as well as magazines, newspapers and children’s publishers.
His career began when he won the Most Artistic award in Mrs McCalister’s third grade class and now, many years later, he creates expressive, character-based artwork for a range of media brands. Being from Florida, he trained at one of the state’s finest creative institutions, the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota – a place where art, culture and beautiful weather merge into one.
Approach
For Ron the process is simple – he draws it then he paints it digitally using his computer and graphics tablet.Style
Ron’s drawing style is simply based on how he sees people. He likes to bring out larger than life expression and humour in the characters when he draws them, while his painting technique brings them to life with depth and bold colours. There’s action, emotion and pageantry in his style, which makes it feel larger than life.
