Juliet has first class degrees in Physiology from Edinburgh University, and Illustration from Falmouth College of Arts. Working from her studio in Durham, she is a medical and scientific illustrator who, in addition to communicating information precisely through her imagery, brings an individual and creative touch to every client’s project. Combining the anatomical knowledge she has from her training in physiology with a prodigious creative talent honed at Falmouth College of Arts, she offers a warmer aesthetic to what might otherwise be quite cold and clinical artwork.
Her talents don’t end with scientific imagery. Juliet is also in demand for her figurative and lifestyle pieces as well as portraits, and more general editorial and publishing contexts.
Approach
Each piece begins as a fluid and spontaneous graphite line work. The initial drawing is scanned in, sometimes with a subtle watercolour background, and coloured digitally using Photoshop’s brushes. The strength of the lines in the image can be adjusted to the client’s wishes.Style
Juliet’s work ranges from highly detailed and realistic watercolours to a much looser drawing style, usually with a soft, restrained colour palette. The spontaneity and personality brought by the hand of the artist makes her images more approachable and engaging than many textbook illustrations.Client list
