Andressa Meissner is a Brazilian illustrator with a bold, colorful and attention-grabbing style, which also feels light and natural with hints of tropical flavor. She’s a flexible artist who embraces the concept behind every brief and clients love the way she finds ways of giving their projects a fresh edge.
Based in the city of Curitiba, Andressa is inspired by Brazilian folk culture, the Tropicalist movement and the vivacious expressions of Brazil’s annual Carnival. The flamboyant flourishes in her images and hand-rendered text are matched by an organized, thorough approach, which always impresses her clients.
Andressa studied graphic design at the Federal Technological University of Paraná in Brazil and Creative Illustration at the University School of Art and Design in Barcelona.
Little known fact: Andressa’s parents run a chocolate factory so she grew up surrounded by cakes, cookies and gingerbread houses.
Approach
From planning her composition through sketching and on to final touches, Andressa mainly works digitally. However, with her background in watercolor she often creates handmade elements to incorporate into her imagery, bringing them to life with textures, grains and gestural strokes that celebrate the tiny imperfections of the real world.Style
Using bold forms and primary color palettes, Andressa’s style is clear and graphic, but has a soft, natural touch to it thanks to the real-world details and textures she uses.Awards
